As for music, I'm pretty sure NES isn't under copyright anymore, what with all those Noacs and such.
Hey, sup?

It really depends what country you're in. In the USA, NES is still under copyright. The Noacs are not illegal, the pirated game ROMs are.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

Well, once you get your midi crap figured out I'm sure me and my more musically inclined friend could churn out some good songs for you
.
Though I must warn you, he's a metal head and you won't be getting much in the way of light hearted stuff. But we could get some sappy crap for you if you need that, too...

So, any progress? I've read through this entire post, and now I want to play this game. Don't forget about that online thing someone mentioned earlier. THAT would be amazing.

While I'm working on Alleycat 64, I'm also finding a way to make my own flash cart. What you see below is the near-final PCB for the flash chip programmer. The flash chip is an AT49BV163A.

Progress on the flash cart.
My main dev PC had a bunch of bad capacitors on the motherboard, so I should be able to work on the n64 game now.

I found a 64Mbit flash chip from STmicro that fits my needs - they even offer free sampling. So that settled it.
I removed the second flash chip from the design and removed the chip selection logic. The result
Oh, yeah. Awesomeness!
