Making the PSOne screen look better by hailrazer. An excellent tutorial that removes scratches and sharpens your picture by removing the antiglare film layer.

You can't blame me for double posting - it's been almost 6 months!
I think this post clears up the directions for adding RGB from an SNES mini to a Zenith/PSOne screen. I mean, I studied all the info I could find and I was still confused so I figured this would help. I also added this info to the wiki.

Hey, my first triple post! Here's a pinout for an easy way to get beautiful stereo sound using a PSOne/Zenith headphone jack. A RadioShack stereo headphone jack is pretty similar and follows the same setup, so that will work too.

Gamesx.com doesn't seem to be working anymore.
Since a lot of the video mods come from gamesx.com might I suggest that the links be updated? I was looking for an RGB mod for the SNES mini and gamesx.com seemed to be the only place, so I had to use the internet archive to go back to it.

I've got small question. I'm making adapter for PS1 Screen. It has got SCART [RGB] in and also 3xRCA [Composite]. RGB works fine, audio and video are nice. But it has got a problem with video while connected by Composite. Yellow [video] signal is connected to 6th pin of connector. It's very strange because screen is very dark and there goes a brighter stripe from top to bottom of the screen. Does composite video signal needs to be filtered by capacitor or sth?
Also is there a method to make screen powers up when it's connected to power supply? I don't like it when I need to use 5V power up signal.

Ok I have some good news on this 3.5" deal extreme screen
It looks pretty good in my opinion.
+Draws 300ma under a load. (240ma standby)
+Should run on anything between 5v and 12v. I have confirmed that it runs on 7.2v and 5v though.
+LED backlit!
+PCB is the same size as the LCD
One thing i noticed is when I played a Dvd (after playing mk64 and GH ), the letters at the menu screen were a little fuzzy on the edges.

If the headphone switch is signaled (headphones plugged in), the speakers are turned off and sound comes out of headphones... otherwise sound would come out of both speakers and headphones. Make sense?Super Cameraman wrote:I don't understand what headphone switch means on the PSone screen diagram. Is there a physical switch on the screen or something?

Idk anything about it, but it sounds good for LED backlit and same size PCB. Idk if it's worth it though compared to PSone screen.schmellyfart wrote:Ok I have some good news on this 3.5" deal extreme screen

Id say its best for a n64 or ps1 portable, I wouldnt use it on anything less because of what I call, "solid color syndrome" Multiple vertical lines a little lighter then the solid color.deviouskoopa wrote:Idk anything about it, but it sounds good for LED backlit and same size PCB. Could you elaborate on this "solid color syndrome"? I'm considering using this screen in a SNES portable.schmellyfart wrote:Id say its best for a n64 or ps1 portable, I wouldnt use it on anything less because of what I call, "solid color syndrome" Multiple vertical lines a little lighter then the solid color.deviouskoopa wrote:Idk anything about it, but it sounds good for LED backlit and same size PCB. Re: Screen FAQ / useful info
It is a composite problem, I get it on my unfiltered PSone LCD in some games (Notably, starfox).
Excellent

Re: Screen FAQ / useful info
So I'd get said problem on any display that used composite as its video input then?

Re: Screen FAQ / useful info
You just need to make sure you are using well shielded wire.
And yes, the problem can happen on any screen.
