I added epoxy, and it was quite easy. Im going to let it dry overnight as I dont have much to do tonight..
I hope this stuff works good, It sounds to be really strong.
EDIT: Its been about 1/2 hour, and it seems to be drying good.
It says it takes an hour, and a full cure in 24 hours, but im shure itll be safe tomorrow morning.

Seeing as how the cartridge slot (famicom slot, would need a converter thing to work with NES games) sticks straight out the back, the cartridges would probably follow suit.

They stick out, and yes you can play NES games.
I didnt want it to slide down the back, just because I wanted to keep it smaller than a NES cart, which I did. It would also force me to make the design thicker, and not as cool. I know it would be nice, but this may does not interfere with your hands.
as for the epxoy, It worked great. it feels much stronger now.

CAR ADAPTOR= FINISHED!
The Nes now has another power source, your cars Lighter plug. Plug it in the cigarette lighter or whatever you call it,, and plug the USB plug in. Then turn on the the plug switch, and its ready to go. Im also adding a TV out feature so I can play it in the car without having to use that batteries or the screen! In the back of the Van Is a DVD player with AV in. I plug in cables between the NES and the cars screen, and then the NES is Extremely portable! The only things left to do now is put the screen in(once i get it) and then move the AV jacks so that they fit nice, and wire them to the screen.
Its not that cool,so I may not do pictures unless you want em later. no camera yet. I put it in a cotton candy bin so it will prolly fit in a cupholder...

Or you could just use it to power the NES with anything over 5V. Like those RC car batteries.
Next up, The wall to USB adapter. Where did I get the USB plugs? I have no Idea, Im going to need to search for the next one....
Im looking for a 5V wall adaptor laying around the house... I know I could get one online, but im looking to see If I can find one..

What is this thing? Not to sound stupid , but it feels like this thread starts in the middle.
Is this going to be a fully functional NES smaller than a NES cart? Awesomes!

Why bump a thread from 2005?
Re: Got the parts back! NES portable updates(pictures)
Because I'm interested in the USB idea and how it could be applied to a modular screen.
And yes- I was a little too lazy to check the date...

Haha, my NES portable.
Yes, this thread began halfway through my development. I shipped the parts out to my brother for a tech demo I believe. Then, when they returned, I resumed work on the portable.
The main idea behind the portable was to utilize a USB cable system. Since everything could be run off of 5v, I decided to attach the batteries to the system indirectly through a USB cable. That way, I could power the NES off of my computer if it was nearby, or off of the special car adapter that regulated 5v out of the cigarette lighter and into the NES. I remember some people jokingly suggesting that I get it to run off of all sorts of different things. Ahh, those were the days....
The main design was putting the whole NOAC and NES controller guts into the NES controller part, and then finding a way to attach the screen atop that. I did that, and then cut a hole in the top of the controller to run out A/V jacks and to attach the batteries. I was contemplating leaving the system in that form, but I really wanted to make into a portable. So, I just glued the N64 cart on top (Later decided to use a SNES cart since it has more room inside) to put the screen in.
I completed this on August 29, appearently in 2005. Since then, it broke or something. I've always wanted to rebuild it in a new form factor, but never had the cash to do it.
Any other questions, feel free to ask. It's been a while but I remember the project quite well.
