Re: BenHeck Forums are back!!!
I just realized they came back when Element14 show ended. So it was Element14 that probably closed the forums to get us on their dumb site (contract BS I bet). But Ben kept the database...hooray!! Good work Ben

Re: BenHeck Forums are back!!!
The fourm became publicly viewable again sometime before the Ben Heck Show ended. I want to say 3 to 6 months'ish prior.
Anyways, maybe I will finally get around to actually starting and finishing the Namco Portable this year?

Obligatory post in the most active thread of the last few years. I miss the good ol' days. Sorting the memberlist by post count and looking at the usernames on the first few pages takes me back.

Re: BenHeck Forums are back!!!
Maybe we should all try to get this place back up and going again. There is still plenty of useful modding information here. (Old pictures might have to be re-hosted though.)
A bunch of newer retro consoles have been released since things went mostly quiet around here. Giving us new interesting options for portablizing. Thanks to the Raspberry Pi scene, we also now have options for small HDMI in HD capable screens that are great for projects. Other screens, like the back up camera ones are getting even cheaper to buy.
With Ben starting to make new one handed controllers again now. That might also get people interested in making their own too. This place would give them somewhere to ask questions and/or share their own progress.

Re: BenHeck Forums are back!!!
While I love the pathos, nightwheel, unfortunately "the masses" will never be drawn to portablizing like they were in years past. The decline started when you could emulate on a PSP, and basically fell off a cliff once you could on tablets/smartphones and they became ubiquitous.
I still can't believe it's been almost 13 years since I joined this forum. My first web forum that I had any real presence on.

Re: BenHeck Forums are back!!!
We honestly don't know unless we give it a try. Even if this place doesn't become portablizing centric like it once was. This place could still be useful for general console hacking. Similar to what Ben does these days.

(arises like the Phoenix) well well well. This place looks familiar

Re: BenHeck Forums are back!!!
Sweet Jesus I just stumbled back in here for the first time since 2014. I didn't think it existed anymore.
Still late to the party as always.

It seems to come and go...the server has gone up and down a number of times.
I'm glad it's back again (again)! It's a wonderful repository of classic original not-easy-to-find modding and hacking (esp. for LCD screens). I hope Ben and everyone is doing well!

Re: BenHeck Forums are back!!!
I actually did some PS One LCD modding and repair this past week, which I'll post in the forums later! I have no problem starting new threads and reviving this place a little bit )
I've been designing new PCBs for retro game systems these days, and I bet Ben wouldn't mind if I shared some of the stuff I've been working on in here.
And yep, this place gives me heavy nostalgic vibes as well. Remember when Ben cracked the pinout of the ROM for the "new" Radica GOAC? That was so cool, it seems like a million years ago.
I'll put some more later and breathe some life into this place. This was always my favorite forum back in the day with GameSX.com!
