Re: Rise from your grave.
I hadn't considered that. At least the multiplayer would still work.

I'm glad the forums are still around
I think I was 16 when I first discovered one of Ben Heck's goofy mods online: an external analog stick for the PSP. I remember buying a soldering iron that same day and staying up until 4am taking apart my PSP and soldering...6 wires.

Hey gang.
Was reading this and missing pretty much the entire scene from back in the day. I remember daily spending an hour or two going through BH forums and XS forums to go over all of the happenings.
Recently I got into re-capping GameGear consoles that suffer from Black Screen/No Audio. Few things I wondered about:
1. Why does the solder/old caps smell like fish? seriously... why?
2. one of the caps that is supposed to control contrast may not even be required, I accidentally broke the connection and it still functioned without the cap.
3. McWill has created an LCD replacement that on the fly converts to a very close resolution for the GG in native state. This fantastic device costs more than ten of the consoles unfortunately, so I will probably never own one. The difference is quite simply fantastic.
4. some guy in Japan made a consoled version of the GameGear that looked like an SMS but blue instead of red and rather mini. I thought it would be neat (and probably impossible) to mod up an add on that was a GameGear cart slot similar to the card slot on the SMS.
Miss you guys

I don't know the answer to any of those questions, but that new screen you mentioned is interesting. Have you got a link?

Well, hey guys been a loooooooong time. Been gone almost 13 years now. I'll admit it, been in prison, nuff said bout that please don't ask. Thought I would pop in and see how things are, surprised to see this is still here. Spent some good times here and built a cool thing. Now I have a question, anyone still modding stuff? And has anyone played with modding those my arcade handhelds? Can't find anything about them in search. I'll be around guys

Its great to see the love here. And Im glad these forums are preserved!
I still do lots of retro gaming stuff, but more designing than modding nowadays. Although I have hundreds of repair videos on youtube so thats been cool. But its not the same as having the oldskool communities on forums like BenHeck.
Man, I miss those days when everyone looked out for each other and some random person would mail a few screws you might be missing, and visa versa. Good times
