Hey guys, I've been looking into getting a FPGA development/evaluation board to mess around with and probably use in college. I should be able to get student/academic pricing because I have a college email address already, which is sweet.
I was looking into getting an Altera DE2 board for $269, but I wanted to see if you guys had any other suggestions.

That's exactly what I used last fall for my digital design class, it's great. That and there are a handful of projects on Hackaday of people using the DE2 board (or equivalent) for neat stuff. Now the Quartus II software that we used with it, it was...interesting, but it got the job done.

Anyone know where I can buy an Altera DE2 Development Board? eBay is out of them for sale...
Re: FPGA Dev boards
Turns out I might not have as good of access to my college funds as I thought. I will see what I can do, but I might not be picking one up for a while.
The DE2 looks nice, but I've also been eyeing the Nexys2 board. A bit cheaper, and has been used at my college in a few courses in the past (according to google).

You could check the list of authorized international distributors (including Digikey) but you'll have to email Altera for the educational pricing (if it applies).Haunted360 wrote:Anyone know where I can buy an Altera DE2 Development Board? eBay is out of them for sale...
