Paypal woes?

Post by HotDog-Cart » Tue Aug 24, 2010 1:02 pm

Hey guys.

I was about to buy a m249 SAW airsoft gun from ebay canada, but then ebay took the listing off (along with another one of the users listings. He still has a few more up). Stupid ebay has a weird policy where paintball guns are allowed, but airsoft is grey area.

I asked the seller if he could put it back up, but he says no because of ebays policies. He did tell me that I could buy it from him using paypal, and thus taking the transaction off of ebay, but still doing it in paypal. (He has a decent rating. 155 sales with 97.5% positive feedback. His only negative feedbacks were by 3 sellers, who tampered with their guns, and wanted a refund even though he listed "NO RETURNS/REFUNDS".)

He said "The transaction can be done in my paypal store. With paypal, your money is still secure.

Now, I'm a little weary.

I don't know anything about paypals protection about fraudulent transactions IF the transaction is NOT done using ebay.

Whats this guy mean by his paypal store?
If I send this guy cash using paypal (not gifting it), and he scams me, can paypal refund me or something somehow?

Yup you have up to 30 or so days to dispute the transaction.

It's the same as the protection you'd get if you bought it on ebay and paid with paypal.

I've made a claim through PayPal - it's quite secure and fair from my experience.

M249, that beast? I would have suggested some sort of store, but I don't think the US stores will ship to Canada. Don't quote me on that though. I do know that some players who do an international meet-up have had problems taking them across the US-Canada border though.

Yep, that beast. :P

Yea, border hates airsoft.

The guns brand new, comes with everything plus a Systema M110 Spring (+35-50 fps), madbul 6.03mm barrel (better accuracy) and a m4 mag. Got a steller deal. Airsoft in canada is 2.5x the price and like 3x harder to get than in the US.

Hmm, Depends.

Ive lucked out, and seen some nice Lee Enfields for $100, and Russian SKS's for $350 in Canda. (The SKS came with 1000 rounds, all matching parts, 1 sks mag, and 2 converted AK mags, bipod, rail and scope.)

Gotta love Military Surplus guns. :) I want a Kar98k.

you can get a plain jane chinese SKS for under 200, used to be a LOT cheaper russian ones are more expensive now tho. mosin nagant (91/30 and m44 etc) are between 80 and 150$ usually, with really pristine all matching non refurbed etc going for more. wwII era mausers are 200-400 depending on condition and markings with non german mausers being cheaper, like 100-250$. swiss K31s are 200-300, occasionally you can find one for under 200 but not too often anymore. AKs can be had for 300-500 depending on type too

This rifle was my 21st birthday present to myself, paid ~140$ for it from gander mountain the last time i went to MGC, its a 1939 Tula m91/30 and came with a postwar toolkit, sling and matching bayonet, and it appears to be most numbers matching too! and not force matched either.

when i'm not being a videogame/electronics nerd, or a gearhead/car nut i am a gun nut! when i have some surplus money i plan on doing some modifications to my mosin, bedding the receiver and tapping it for a side mount POSP scope, either 6x42 or 8x42.

also, i know where i can still possibly get some early war mausers in VERY nice condition with all proofs intact, price iirc was 350-450 depending on the rifle, but these were some of the best of whats left of the imported russian captured mauser rifles. dates were between 1938 and 41

Nice triton!

If you can, get a variying scope.

3-9x40E or something. So you can adjust it for different magnifications. (I like 3-9x50)
