vgPocket LCD datasheet

Analog RGB input? That's way too good to be true. I salute you, sir! And now... Do you have any other juicy datasheets?
Hehehe sorry, kid in a candy store here.

So, was it ever confirmed whether or not these screens can be used for portables? It accepts RGB, but is that all there is to it? Does one simply connect the lines to the indicated spots on the pinout?
If no one knows, I'm going to get one anyway. Radioshack.com says that they're only $29 now for the VG Pocket Max - I'm all over that! Even if it doesn't pan out for me gutting it for a small SNESp, it's still pretty nice. I sure hope I can find one in town...
If I do get one, and I take plenty of pics, would you guys help me figure it out? I did get a nice digital camera for Christmas...

Nice. I need to print this out and see if it's the same screen in my VGPocket Caplet (the 16-bit one with Space Invaders).
Edit: My Caplet seems to have a raw LCD (completly controllerless) screen, judging by the number of lines going to it (20+) and the lack of identifiable numbers on the screen assembly itself.

Okay, I just ordered a VG Pocket Max from a dealer on eBay, so hopefully it will make it to me in one piece and in good shape.
Reading reviews on this thing at different sites, it looks like it will be fun to have just on its own even if it doesn't pan out for portable-making. If it does work, then I just got a $23 high-quality RGB screen, suckas!

GREAT work with finding the datasheet. I would LOVE a datasheet on what seems to be the TFT controller, chip labelled BSIC - M6MLT947. The resolution is a little funky on these LCDs and I have to figure out where and how the sync is inputted but HOPEFULLY we'll crack these for portable use.
Also to note, they have these for $30 now at Best Buy!

The circuit in there is actually a Flash ROM I just found out. This makes perfect sense since there are so many variants of these (with diff games) on the market now. This is just reflashed with new games. So i guess that LCD doesn't need a TFT controller? Either that or it's integrated into the "glob" chip >_<
I also just noticed that the LCD datasheet posted above doesn't match mine at ALL. My LCD has far more pins and a diff resolution X_X This can'd be the correct PDF...

Well, my latest discussion on these things, almost forgot I even had one
Apr 23 21:26:37 <Kelvin> Hi guys, I wonder what kind of chips does the vgpocket uses?
Apr 23 21:29:48 <gannon> Let me dig up my pics and check
Apr 23 21:30:04 <Kiddcade> And I believe someone posted the datasheet for the screens too
Apr 23 21:30:28 <Kiddcade> I was wondering if those really are jsut analog RGB... Seems you should be able to drive the screen off of four lines
Apr 23 21:31:02 <Kiddcade> R, G, B, GND
Apr 23 21:31:25 <gannon> 3 Chips, 1 flash, 1 amp, and one glob top
Apr 23 21:32:00 <gannon> actually, what I said is an amp might be a logic chip for the clock, can't read the writing on it clearly
Apr 23 21:32:59 <Kiddcade> The globtop's gotta be the games. No way in hell would they make it that easy to reprogram the onboard games...
Apr 23 21:33:12 <gannon> Ah, another pic is easier to read, the other IC is a 74HC4053D
Apr 23 21:33:21 <Kiddcade> Cause otherwise the games are in the Flash
Apr 23 21:33:31 <gannon> Kiddcade: No, the globtop is the cpu/etc and lcd controller
Apr 23 21:33:44 <Kiddcade> Really? Hrm...
Apr 23 21:34:09 <Kiddcade> It'd be a neat hack then to pick one of those up and flash a handful of Mapper 0 games into it
Apr 23 21:34:17 <p2> best bet is to get a LA and log the LCD lines..
Apr 23 21:34:20 <Kiddcade> Unless the flash is the firmware
Apr 23 21:34:21 <gannon> I've never tried dumping the flash contents though, no way I'd have the time to look at the data format anyways
Apr 23 21:35:14 <Kiddcade> IIRC vgpocket has a firmware layer above the games, that lets you adjust things like brightness and soft reset and such
Apr 23 21:37:13 <Kiddcade> Here it is..
Apr 23 21:37:16 <Kiddcade> "Just found out that if you hold down the square and circle button when you turn the unit on, you get a controller debug screen. The controllers you see on the screen are two NES controllers! If you then press the square and the down button at the same time you can cycle through the colors with the square button. Reset button exits this mode."
Apr 23 21:40:50 <Kiddcade> Dude, flashing a VGPocket with Zelda would pretty much make my lifetime
Apr 23 21:47:57 <Kelvin> I see.. wow vgpocket sounds quite interesting
