PS TWO mod chip?

Post by The Zydeco King » Sun Nov 14, 2004 10:11 pm

I've been looking around and I can't find info on mod chips for the new PS Two. Do you guys know if there is one out already? I would like to run SNES, NES, MAME and Genesis emulators on it.

Since the PSTwo is a top-loader instead of a tray-loader, I've heard that playing copies on it is the same as the PSOne. All you need is a swap disc, like Swap Magic, and something to hold down the little switch that tells the PSTwo that the door is open.

There's actually 2 things that tell the system the tray is open. Inside the system one is to the back left of the lens (to the right of the phone modem port) and the other is next to the on/off button. One of these controls a buffer that stops the disc from spinning and the other tells the console the cd tray is closed. without the buffer removied a disc will not spin, that's why you need to tape down that switch as well.

Thanks for the help :D

But I'm going to hold back a while before installing a chip on my PSTwo. Check these links to find out why.

From what I understand over 50% of chiped PSTwo's will quickly have a burnt out DVD lazer unless the new method of installing is done, even then the new method is so new it has not been fully tested.
