im thinkin i'll put one on the top, right above the screen, and one on the back on the disc cover. and i was also thinking (more like just batting around the idea) of putting a small one between the brightness and volume buttons. i dunno though, do you think that might be overkill??

put the crown from the logo above the power LED.

lol, thats actually a really good idea, and i probably would if i where using it. my design doesnt include the power LED, i think it would be a little distracting

i can see where you guys are coming from, in fact at one point i had considered putting the LED near the reset switch on the controller, so it could be seen through the semi transparent button. but i decided against it because i couldnt think of a way to efficiently relocate such a tiny led. but if anyone has any ideas on how to do it, then by all means send them my way

ok, i just took a few pics with my phone so i can show you real quick.
you can see where i have the extra hole located, which is where the reset button will be. it turns out there is just enough space between the controller casing and the button pad to allow my special button, and it's tact switch to sit.

no, not the actual ffc, but what i did, was solder a few strands of single channel IDE cable to the legs of the tact switch on the reset PCB, so that i could put the button on the front, in the controller.

well there really isnt any trick to it. as you know, the reset button is just a small tact switch, that when pressed, closes a circuit that makes the system reset.
its a little fuzzy, but you can see how the two strands of wire are soldered to the legs of the tact switch:
of course it would certainly be easier to do this if i just removed the tact switch and soldered the wires too the corresponding pads you see highlighted below:
i did it the way i did so that i could use the original tact switch while testing the system during the modding process, but those two wires will be connected to another switch located in the controller, once everything is all put together of course

im beginning work on a PlayStation 2 portable of my own, however i am using the lazer doodle design invented by hailrazer. i am only in the early stages of this project, but i think it should turn out well. the only ps2 mobo version that will fit into the casing is the 79001, so thats what im using. i will be using a zenith ps2 screen (same innards as the psone screen i know, but it has flat casing, rather than round, not to mention its easier to find and much cheaper), and just a regular dualshock 2 controller. i hope to start posting pics when i can secure a decent camera, but until then, if anyone has any suggestions based on the info here, i'd love to hear them!!
