Hifeno wants to know a specific one.
I use a SuperPad 64 as the buttons are flat if you plan on using them and the joystick isn't mounted on the board, which means easy installation of a new one.

Any potentiometer joystick will work just fine, as the joystick is connected to the circuit board through wires, not mounted on.

Tell that to my yobo. I think it has to be a 10k pot joystick, and the yobo uses 50k if I remember what marshallh said correctly.snowpenguin wrote:Any potentiometer joystick will work just fine, as the joystick is connected to the circuit board through wires, not mounted on.

I didn't even notice he was talking about resistance, not fitting it in right. I might be retarded.

I can confirm that an xbox controller S joystick works fine. Better than fine in fact. It's brilliant. It really made me realise what a battle using the joystick on a regular N64 was in comparison to a better joystick.

I think I used a superpad 64. It was big and red.

I believe the Superpad 64 was black. Mine was, anyway. It's a twohandled controller, not three.

There was actually a three-prong controller called the Superpad 64. Same brand, Interact, as the two-prong Superpads, it's really strange that they named them the same.snowpenguin wrote:I believe the Superpad 64 was black. Mine was, anyway. It's a twohandled controller, not three.
Does anyone else have drifting issues with stock 3rd party controllers? If so, has switching to a GC/PS2/Xbox pot fixed the problem? I love using my 3rd party controllers, but they aren't the best for fine control because of the drifting.

Re: Whats a good cheap n64 controller for portable?
That ones fine. I successfully did the gcn joystick mod on that controller. I believe thats the controller thewise1 used in his guide in the reference section. The only thing is that its not exactly cheap.
