Best idea lve had yet. Scince most everyone changes the analog stick use a ps1/2 one. Why? For the push down button off course! Also known as L/R 3. Wouldn't make a great z or start replacement? Come on give me your feed back I need your opinions

It would be terrible for Z, but okay for start. The stick has to be vertical for the button to work, so you don't want the button to be anything you would want to be able to press and use the stick at the same time. (Not the A button) An okay idea.

I use it instead of Start for the integrated audio controls.

i never thought of this!
i don't think using it for z would be good, but i think in my portable n64 i'll use it for start.

L would work, for games like Zelda, stick click could bring up the map.

Re: N64p time and space saver!!!!!!
you do have a point...
L is hardly ever used in any game, but it is used sometimes, and a lot of portables don't have this, along with the d-pad.
one thing i would like to point out is the game "mischief makers". in that WHOLE entire game, you NEVER touched the analog stick, and you NEVER took your hand off of the left section of the n64 controller
it was a pretty fun game. if you wanted to save space, but don't want to put in an L button then i suggest using that unused button in the analog stick
