NES turns off by itself

Hello, I bought an NES not too long ago with a few problems, I have already fixed MOST of them. Except one. When the NES is on for about 10-15 minutes, it turns off by itself. I can turn it back on by pressing power twice, but it's annoying. What should I do?

Re: NES turns off by itself
I'd say it's probably the lockout chip just being it's annoying self. Have you tried disabling it?
If it's not that, it could mean your power brick is bad, or the 7805 is going bad. Both of which are easily dealt with.

I've disabled the lockout chip, so I should probably get a new brick. I have had this problem with two NES's and I think I used the same power supply.

I tried using the power supply for my genesis, it works now. Thanks.

I'm having the problem again with multiple nes's. I've tried different power supplies and I'm still having problems. You mention a 7805, is it possible to fix it without replacing the chip? I'm not even sure where it is.

The 7805 is a voltage regulator. It's the thing that juts out, labeled IC.
When plugged into the Genesis brick (not NES brick), use a multimeter to test the DC voltage (20V setting). Put the black lead on the middle pin of the 7805 and the red on one of the outside leads. If you get something above 5V, try the other lead. Test it when it shuts off as well. If you're getting under five volts, you can buy a new 7805 for $2 at Radioshack.
