Looking for a Nintendo NES power supply replacement
Moderator:Moderators
Hey all, you know how the retro systems have that big ass power brick, i am looking for a simple replacement 2 prong smaller. I have heard that people use Laptop power supply and can someone tell/show me how to either use a different power supply or open up the current power brick and rewire it to make it simple 2 prong connector. Thank you all for your help!!

Just about anything that can supply at least 9 volts at 900 mAh or more will work for it. Just make sure your leads are right!

Well, actually... Polarity of the plug kinda doesn't matter much, seeing as the NES has an AC-DC rectifier in it and has been shown to work fine with Sega Genesis PSU's time and time again. Don't try that the other way, though. Should help you out a bit with shrinking your collection if things aren't constantly hooked up. Lets you use the same brick for several things.

My knock-off NES adapter doesn't supply enough power for my model 1 Genesis.
Either that or the Genesis is broken.

NES is AC, Genesis is DC. DC supplies work for the NES, but AC supplies don't work for the Genny.

It is actually a DC adapter. At least, it says it is and has Genesis written on the box.
