so, i use nintendos and gameboys to make music with my band, revengineers.

we recently switched to a new method of making nintendo music but it would mean we'd need a tv monitor to see what we were doing on the NES (whereas before we would just plug it in to our computer and the computer would take care of it).

anyways, i thought it would be kind of lame and not very practical to have to lug some tv around with us and on stage. so, i built a screen right in to the nes itself.

i'm took apart a psone screen, modified it, and installed it into the plastic casing of the nintendo itself. this might not seem like such a big deal to some of you pros out there but i went in to this knowing incredibly little about electronics so this is a major victory for me.

here's some pictures of the process -

and here's a video of it in action -

and if tumblr is being lame (like it has been this morning) here's the vimeo link -

let me know what you think!

great minds think alike!

and yeah, it feels great. i had done a few smaller mods before this (the stereo output mod and the sound expansion mod) but this was definitely a bit bigger than those. anyways, these forums were an incredible resource.

next thing i'm doing is adding batteries to it!
