Nes Portable - decided to try my hand at this

Post by AndyHope » Wed Jul 14, 2010 2:00 pm

I decided to start a NES portable for my summer project,

I haven't named it yet i figure i can come up with some ridiculously long winded name later (or let the work speak for itself).
I already have a PSone screen and a NOAC / have modded the PSone screen already for LED BL and such.

Here's where I'm at so far.

I am debating whether or not to have a cartridge slot, it will fit inside, but I have a famicom cart with every NES game (or similarly named knock off) I can think of on it and can easily hardwire it inside.

Using wood for this project just because I have it around and didn't need to order anything. The buttons also are not wired in yet I just taped them there for effect.

Let me know what you think

Used the decal from an actual NES controller to surround the buttons and d-pad.
The pencil squares mark the speaker position on the back.

Looks awesome so far!
I say, if you have so much room on the inside, put in the famicom cart.

i'd agree. i love the wood look. what type of wood did you use, i'm thinking of using it on a future project.

if i can make a suggestion, i would reccomend moving the buttons down a little more so it'll be more comfortable.

I just used some spare cedar that i had laying around, plus some 3/16" ply for the front.
