I no longer use a sensor bar after finding out my wiimote uses sunlight like a sensor bar. Now I just open my blinds for the menu. Why does this work?
Re: wiimote is weird
I loled at the vagueness of that statement.mako321 wrote:infrared.
The sensor bar is just a row of infrared LEDs that is powered by the Wii. Look at the sensor bar with a cell phone camera and you can see the them. But it is in no way is sending information to the Wii directly. The Wiimote on the other hand has a infrared camera in it that picks up the infrared light given off by the sensor bar to calculate where you are pointing it. And some things give off enough infrared light to be picked up by the Wiimote (i.e. the sun), so they can be used as a sensor bar. Or just interfere with the real sensor bar causing your cursor to jump around.

You can even use the wiimote calibration thing in the settings and it shows what the wiimote sees.Erlex wrote:Look at the sensor bar with a cell phone camera and you can see the them.

I've used two candles when I left my sensor bar at my grandma's house for a week.
And ya... I've used the blinds also but candles work way better. But they burn out faster than I thoght

Depends on the candle. Get some Hanukkah candles, a pack of them cost like a few dollars. The small ones are great as birthday candles, because they burn slow, so you do not get wax in the cake. A single candle can burn all day, it is pretty fantastic.
Excellent

After blowing up evry IR led i own using a misslabbeled 3 ohm resistor instead of what i thought was a 400 ohm resistor. Im using candles until i can find some more ir led's. They work great , only thing is when they flicker i end up team killing on cod 5 .
a word of warning, blobs of wax are a huge pain in the arse to get of your brand spanking new 17 inch lcd .

When you have a bunch of glass things in the house, light from outside can become a major pain in the booty. Drives me insane when trying to point at something and all of a sudden the cursor jumps to some random location or is really jerky all over the place. Then I start blocking things with whatever's available or moving stuff around to try to figure out what's reflecting the light and causing interference.

Re: wiimote is weird
might be worth doing the sensitivy thing so the wiimote shows you whatit sees.

If you make a sensor bar that uses the 5v out of a USB port, it's fun to use with Glovepie as a bluetooth pointer device.
