I was wondering if GTP could be ported to linux because I am building my own low profile media canter/emulating rig to put on top of my tv and I am using linux. then I thought, you know a lot of people here use linux so it might not be a bad Idea to make a linux port. maybe I could start building these mini pcs and selling them as pure homebrew "game consoles" and you could play GTP on it.

Possible, yes, but I'd have to re-write every single bit of it.
I'd have to convert the VB code to C++, translate DirectX calls into OpenGL, and go from DirectSound to FMOD/SDL (not much of a problem)
I'll be honest, I'm not anywhere near being capable of doing that (though it's not something that I'd hate doing.)
If that did get done, a GP2X port would be fairly simple.

That would be really cool to have GTP on the gp2x but how much would you have to change for it to run using only 64mb ram? This will probably never happen but if it does get ported to linux please try.marshallh wrote:Possible, yes, but I'd have to re-write every single bit of it.

Yes, it's theoretically possible, as Win98 is simpy an extension of Win95. I just wrote it because most people who have Win95 probably wouldn't have a good enough computer to run GTP as well.
However, I don't know how accurately or fast it would run. Keep this in mind:
Wine
Is
Not an
Emulator
So there are going to be plenty of problems, most likely.

You'd have to use something like Virtual PC or install 98 on DOSbox. WINE just imitates some Windows APIs, I don't think it has any of the Visual Basic libraries. (and almost definitely not DirectX)
