Boot GC Games on Wii with only GC Controller

Does the Wii draw any less power, or is it just the fact that the DVD drive is thinner?

EDIT:
Well, since Hackmodford's posts were accidentally deleted, I somehow am now the author apparently.

So in essence the thread regards the fact that you can avoid the Wii system menu and only use a GC controller to navigate through the Wii, allowing for a thinner portable.

What you do is softmod your wii and install bootmii. This allows you to boot into the homebrew channel without even entering the wii system menu. Through this you can apparently use GeckOS to run your GC games.

(Note: I do not take any credit for what is posted above. I simply posted it for information preservation purposes.)

@Hackmodford: If you want me to delete this, then just let me know.

not sure, but taking a quick look to the wii power suply, it seems provide more power than GC does, but the dvd driver is really slimer compared with GC drive, and with this software mod for GC controller, and the wii extra features compared with an GC, this seems a great idea, not sure, but it also may be able to play wii games with the GC controller, a nice example will be DBZ games and super smash brothers brawl wich dont need the wiimote at all (and I play them with GC controller more confortable xD)

On That note is the wii disc drive compatible with the wii disk drive?

 I don't understand...

I think once you boot a game the wii goes into GC mode and it's possible that it uses less power.

I'm still trying to figure out a way to start a wii game with only a GC controller.
FIXED!

I even updated bootmii so it automatically goes to the homebrew channel in 1 second. (Saves one button press!)

just awesome, this mean I am ready to start my WIIp :)

First you need to install Bootmii and the Homebrew Channel

Instructions Here

Once you have homebrew running you can use Gecko OS to start the games with the Gamecube controller.

Now the wii makes a good candidate for a gamecube portable that can play wii games!

It has been shown that you can use a wii disc drive in a gamecube... infact you can use a wiikey in a gamecube...
