So I saw the website for NESp and thought it looked easy enough to build so I thought I should try it. But, I noticed that from step five on, the guide abruptly ends!
So anyone know if I am missing something or what I should do?

What website? You're not making sense. Are you talking about Mario's (1UP's) instructable?

Sorry for not being more specific. I meant this one: http://nesp.tighelory.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Well, I guess he never bothered finishing the guide. However, Mario has a complete and excellent in-depth NES guide.

Thanks
However it makes you wonder, after seven years he should have finished the guide...

Just to throw this out there... you don't actually need to sacrifice an NES controller for the IC. You can still buy CD4021 shift register IC's brand-new. Jameco has them as cheap as $0.39 each (+shipping) http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores ... 1_12829_-1. Also, if you're at all interested in home PCB etching/surface-mount soldering, this project I've been working on might interest you http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=49986
