Is it possible to build a parallel-port adapter for multiple controllers?

I'd like to build 2 adapters for use with:
- NES+SNES, using the DirectPad Pro interface. The controllers will share the Ground, Power, Clock and the Latch wires, while having an independent Data line.
- SMS+SMD, using the Linux Sega interface. -> I'm not sure if this one will work with both and how to setup the port in PPJoy...
UPDATE: i've just tested it and i can confirm the interface works with both controllers! :)
In PPjoy i've set:
Controller type=Genesis pad
Interface type=Linux
