Will krylon fusion work with bondo?

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

Of course but what kind of paint. They make a primer and I was wondering if I would have to get some of that for krylon.

It has been said many times. You don't need primer with krylon fusion.

Bondo was made to be painted. It's more than porous enough to hold the paint without primer.

I haven't seen anything about krylon working with bondo.

But I guess you guys are saying yes.

I thought it was a legitimate question. :?

Sorry I made such a short reply. I have painted over bondo many times with Krylon Fusion paint, and the bondo portions take the paint very well. I recommend using primer any time you paint, regardless of what the Krylon cans say. I am no expert though.

I would like to take some precautions to prevent paint peeling. Already going to use krylon, and krylon clear coat. I don't want to turn this into my old thread asking about vacuum forming, but I'm getting mixed feelings from people using primer. Look at tibia's post.

Dont ever use primer with Fusion. Fusion needs bare plastic to bond to and the primer gets in the way. As for bondo I never tried it with fusion but I cant imagine there being a problem. Fusion does great over bare wood and thats poros so bondo should be fine. I never tried it myself though.

It should work, but it will require a few coats to get the colour even.

It bonds much better without primer. I have never primed any of my case mods, my GBA has never flaked or peeled in it's daily use of about 10 months and it feels very nice to hold.

Wet sand that sucker until it feels like a baby's bottom, then 3 coats of paint, and then 2 of clear coat/gloss.

If at any stage through the coats of paint it feels uneven or not smooth, wet sand it very light and then just apply the next coat when it's dry.

You probably already know this, but you have to leave 24 hours between your last coat of paint and when you apply the gloss/clear. Even if it's fully dry to the touch, you still need 24 hours for the paint to "cure".

Hope I helped :)
I am a case modder trying to be a portablizer. Will get there one day. :)
