Ponoko cases?

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

Ponoko cases?

Post by totokan » Sun Aug 10, 2008 9:03 pm

Has anybody ever used Ponoko? I believe that it would be an easy way to form the basis of a custom case, especially considering the wealth of materials they offer, and the ability to produce a product for you on a single sheet up to the size of approximately 31x15 inches. Also, the ability to use the editing tool you use normally to output the design is a great thing, as it translates to a much more clean transfer between idea and reality...
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

I was once planning on making some stuff from ponoko, but I wouldn't want to use them as a custom case manufacturer. The only stuff they can do is 2D laser cuts, and that would result in a boxy portable. You could bend the sides with heat and have a funky shaped top, but by that time you could have just got some sintra.
