how many people have successfully completed the hand built NES portable? I want to know because mine won't turn on even though I wired everything correctly. I think the books schematics are faulty. My NES I'm building is called the N Gadget as some of you might know from reading my signiature evrywhere. I was wondering if anyone had the same problem or had success. Please post about it here V

This just goes to show that Ben can't write books.
And thats why I'm never buying it.

well I was missing a ground, so I hooked it up, and guess what? STILL doesn't work. The book doesn''t elaborate on how many grounds should be connected to the metal on the NES board. Jedi knight, how many grounds did you have connected to the NES metal? and please name them.
EDIT- was the NES you built the hand built NES?

Wow, your exactly right... It fried my screen and messed up my favorite game. The NES was fine though.Retromaster wrote:How did it frie? wrong AC adapter?
Well i used the instructions for the hand built one but i put it in a different case. I have 2 ground connections on the nes metal. One for the 7805, and one for the battery. I hope that helps.Retromaster wrote:well I was missing a ground, so I hooked it up, and guess what? STILL doesn't work. I have one ground coming off the 7805
one coming off the capacitor on the right board
one coming off the headphone jack that leads to the battery
hmm....I guess something differs from how you did it.
I guess i'll just send it to ben, because for one thing, he's the writer of the book AND the master of portables.
i'll just throw in some pics of what it looks like:here's the back- notice the good game selection and where I labeled my name
