for batteries, check battery space.com
http://www.batteryspace.com/?SSAID=251868
you are looking for one at 11 to 12 volts at <6000mah

i found a good battery http://cgi.ebay.com/9-cells-BATTERY-FOR ... 3:1|294:50

good luck :)

Take my advice and do something easier first. I'm doing an N64p for my first project and I know quite a bit about this sort of stuff. No way I would try a GCp. So do something easier first. A NESp, SNESp, even an N64p is pretty easy. A PSOne or Genesis would be an OK first project. But a NESp, it's really easy, can be made small and light with little effort. A SNESp is bigger but easy. N64p is harder but still very much doable. PS1 makes a good second project, don't know much about Genesis. The gamecube is really hard and only 5 or so people have ever made one.

If you want to make a huge monstrosity after going through about 7 gamecubes. Okay, it's not as hard as say a 360p but still pretty hard.
