I found a few things on the side of the road: a 60 year old brass clock shaped like a pocketwatch, and an old satelite receiver. I then polished the brass, took oiut the clock, and turned it into a pot for a bonsai tree I'm trying to grow. With the Satelite receiver, I gutted it and put a car stereo...

I don't know if that would be a reason for it do die, but if it did go in that way, you could just replace the 7805(the only thing with a heatsink) and it would work again...

Personally, I think it would be awesome... but then again it takes 24 volts to light up and it would be way overkill... Maybe if you were doing some sort of epic multiconsole mod... in your yaht... for the military...

Go to radioshack, spend $12 on a desoldering iron, use it effectively. It's a lot cheaper than replacing all the boards you could ruin otherwise.

I would say you should go for the power supply already, once you get that hooked up, I think you could really get this thing going again.

I have and still use a model 100, doesn't really remind me of it that much... I can't say much on the bbc micro thing though... Looks nice, even with the 85 sticks of hot glue inside. I'm almost scared to see this thing finished... it's gonna be huge, but at least you will be able to actually play t...

My solution for a sticky drive it make it top loading... that also cuts out a lot of bulk, so you could make it into a laptop with a top loading drive... I think you could even get it to be as small as 15 inches if you work it out right...

Basically, you take the tray and case off, and the drive gets smaller. It's just the eject part that requires any thinking...
