I figured out the issue (sort of).
However, I do want to point out that the two versions are different.
Those making an Atari 2600 need to know that or they will be in for a world of hurt.

Re: Timer IC bypass... not needed?
any results of this?
I may be having a similar issue I can get gameplay... the colors are off and then they slowly progress to the right colors.
I can play for about 2 min... then it starts rolling

Re: New Portable in Progress...
Just wanted to follow up on this thread. For the most part, I have my portable finished. I put it away and took a break for a while. Last night I decided to dig it out of my projects box and re do a few things. I am a bit concerned about power though. I am using a real atari 2600 (cut into a 4X4) an...

Ahh!!!! Finally! I have video... I have sound (wish it was a bit louder) Doing well! My controls work, everything seems okay... so far. Minor questions/concerns: It looks as though while leaving the unit running.... (checking battery time) the colors tend to change. I was advised this is normal with...

Okay... looks like I can't figure this out at all. I have that Casio... which is a 3" I also ripped open a Hip Gear Screen/Pad thing. Took a look at that... not really sure where to go with it either. I know both of them worked prior to me taking them apart. If anyone here can help me connect these ...

Success! My hacked 4X4 finally works! I had to start over again... but I have video and sound and I'm running it from the batteries! So I am able to now confirm that I have that portion working. I wired up all of my controls. I believe I may still add the difficulty switches though. Not really sure ...

look at the first pic of the 4x4 board in the step by step guide. It states that C is the ground strip on the bottom of the board. Then if you scroll down and look at how it is connected, the 'c' moved upwards to the three spots that are right above the strip. Not sure how it is supposed to be conne...

Nope... I haven't done that. Audio isn't a huge problem. Granted I'm not getting any audio, but there is not any video. I have no real reason to even think I did my 4x4 hack correctly. Nothing is working yet. I can't seem to figure out the problem. The step by step says to do it one way... an...

That last entry is cool... yet... didn't you ask for a list of ATARI 2600 portable? That thing plays sega games. You'll have a nice one to add here later... if I can ever figure out how to get the 4X4 to work again. Having major issues... not much help either. :( Everything else is FAIRLY done. Just...
