Re: Rise from your grave.
Its great to see the love here. And Im glad these forums are preserved! I still do lots of retro gaming stuff, but more designing than modding nowadays. Although I have hundreds of repair videos on youtube so thats been cool. But its not the same as having the oldskool communities on forums like Ben...

Re: BenHeck Forums are back!!!
I actually did some PS One LCD modding and repair this past week, which I'll post in the forums later! I have no problem starting new threads and reviving this place a little bit :)) I've been designing new PCBs for retro game systems these days, and I bet Ben wouldn't mind if I shared some of the s...

Re: BenHeck Forums are back!!!
It seems to come and go...the server has gone up and down a number of times.
I'm glad it's back again (again)! It's a wonderful repository of classic original not-easy-to-find modding and hacking (esp. for LCD screens). I hope Ben and everyone is doing well!

PS One LCD hacking Preservation Thread!
Amazingly, a lot of info still survives on the web. But I thought since we love this screen so much its good to put all that info in one place! Some of the best PS One info I've seen: http://forums.modretro.com/index.php?threads/psone-screen-info-and-cutting-guide-wip.1669/ (thanks LOLtronicz) image...

Re: BenHeck Forums are back!!!
I just realized they came back when Element14 show ended. So it was Element14 that probably closed the forums to get us on their dumb site (contract BS I bet). But Ben kept the database...hooray!! Good work Ben

WTB/TF Sega Nomad battery shell
Looking for one of the old rechargeable batteries that don't work. Just need the plastic shell to hack, will pay $10 + ship or trade something.

WTB/T Sega Game Gear with NO blue BIOS screen (oldest model)
Looking for the first generation Game Gear that has 2 ASIC chips and no blue BIOS screen when you first turn it on. I dont mind if it has leaky capacitors and has the dim screen problem. If your game gear turns on and boots right into the game without the "produced or licensed from" screen, I'm inte...

Re: PSone screen with VGA input?
Ah! I got it to work
BC547/8 ARE necessary, and that circuit does a solid job of making the composite sync!
What is required is special OLD drivers from nvida, called Forceware...download that and Powerstrip 3.90 or soft-15khz work like a charm!

Re: PSone screen with VGA input?
Did anyone ever successfully do this? I've been trying recently, and I built that circuit. I used a BC548 instead of 547 since it looks to be the same chip. However, using powerstrip or soft-15khz (another similar program for this project) with my Geforce 7800GT I had no success. I noticed that when...

Re: 3.5" LCD with RGB input? (for Nomad modding)
well that's your opinion and I respect it but do disagree. I think anyone seeing it side by side would notice the difference. People may tolerate it but there is a difference. I modded a 3" portable TV screens years ago and when I did composite v. RGB it looked much nicer. Regardless of screen size,...

Re: Hacking a CRT TV to take a RGB connection
Congrats! These mods are not easy to do. I modded my 36" CRT for RGB and it has been a superb monitor for many years now
