Re: My NES Bartop Arcade
That is indeed nifty and makes me consider making something similar. Nice work! Also, voted. Thanks for the vote! I hoped to inspire people to make something similar. I actually over complicated things with the detachable controller portion, but it hadn't been done before so I had to try ...

Re: Controller Ports, take out.
No desoldering needed. They are connected to the board with a plug. All you need to do is take a few screws out, and they come right out. I'm curious why you need to know this. It would have only taken a few minutes to pop the top on your console to get these answers.

Re: Connecting AC ground to DC negative.
I'm honestly not sure, and don't know why you would have to. Connecting a console running at 5v, to a portable monitor running on 12v when they are not attached in one console do not have the negative leads connected, so I wasn't sure if this was safe to do. I haven't even bought my screen yet but I...
Re: UPSes
I had one, but the battery started to go on it, and it started beeping all the time. Now I just back my stuff up on a regular basis instead.

Connecting AC ground to DC negative.
Is this a safe thing to do? I've looked online, and all I can find are references to boat electrical systems. I am internalizing my AC/DC converters for both the screen (12v) and NES (5v) on my aluminum NES laptop. From what I've read, it would be fine to connect 1 of these sources to AC ground (in ...

Re: My New Workshop :D (56k warning)
I'd say it is way too clean. You need to get some work done ASAP! A workshop isn't a workshop if you can still see the desks surface.

Re: Question for Ben: Bill Paxton Pinball. I/O Board
I remember reading in one of his posts or videos that he might consider selling DIY kits with all the basic components. I'm not sure if this will ever happen though.

Re: reset button
All you need is a button that is normally closed (it makes a connection when it isn't pressed). Hook that up to your negative power line. When you press the button, it makes a break in the circuit, and there is no current flow. When you release the button, it reconnects the power, basically, and yo...

Re: reset button
If you read about his remote reset switch, he says that he just touches the two wires together. So get a normally open switch, and solder it between the two wires. I guess you could use a toggle, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Re: What have I got here?
Do you mean the ones that look like Genesis controllers? The only NOAC I see is the snes/nes combo. The radica/mini genesis in the corner are GOACs. The n64 controller is stolen from a hotel room lol.

Re: John (jdmlight)'s portable NES!
Using the floppy drive connector isn't necessarily recommended. I think Ben is the only one who has made it work successfully (many others have tried). Apparently it is really hard to get it to line up correctly and the spacing isn't perfect. I'd also recommend the Game Genie.

Re: The Definitive NOAC pinout/information document!
Ahh ok, I was a bit confused. I thought he had a separate pdf file with additional info. Seems it was only a pdf of the original word doc.
