Re: A Retron 3 project, and a few queries...
I just had a look at the page and man, someone needs to tell them that the RetroN3 Version 2 is discontinued. That's a Version 3 shown. Shows how little people know of this hardware revision. But back on topic, you could get all the necessary signals for the lockout chip from those spots. Don't worr...

Re: A Retron 3 project, and a few queries...
The two crystals are valued at 53.693 mhz and the other one is the same as the retron 3 what the high frequency one is for I do not know..... The 53.693MHz crystal is the NTSC master clock on the Genesis. Is this maybe the key to getting Virtua Racing to work? Most Geniclones I see only use a 14.31...

Re: A Retron 3 project, and a few queries...
I think when there are two crystals on a GOAC-based Geniclone, it's usually to make it dual PAL/NTSC compatible. I highly doubt that has anything to do with the Clock required by Virtua Racing. Get those images to me ASAP. This may be our only chance to finally get Virtua Racing working on the TCT-6...

Re: A Retron 3 project, and a few queries...
I did not believe running Virtua Racing was even possible until a few days ago, my friend that owns that game shop called me in to look at a very interesting clone he was fixing (broken controller port pins) It was in the case of a Mega Drive 2 and had a 6801..... he put in and played with virtua r...

Re: A Retron 3 project, and a few queries...
Ace, I should be able to provide you with a sample of the audio in a day or two, I am trying to look for my capture equipment, as soon as I can dig it up I will post it. I just started my FDS library so I think the only game I have that uses expansion audio is Gyruss will that work? I tried to borr...

Re: A Retron 3 project, and a few queries...
How are the volume levels? If I can get an audio sample I will be able to tell you if you got the volume levels right or not (if you can use Falsion or The Legend of Zelda on Disk System, that would be ideal for me). At the same time, I'll throw in my RetroN3 Version 3 compatibility list to add on t...

Re: A Retron 3 project, and a few queries...
That is really nice. Man, I'm gonna have to pick up some more flash cartridges and a standalone Disk System so I can test them out on clone systems. I only have the PowerPak, which has yet to work on any NOAC I've tried to use it on, legal or not. One thing I should point out is that there's a possi...

Re: A Retron 3 project, and a few queries...
Covering the lockout chip pins on the card-edge of a crappy game should be the way to go about doing this without it being too much of a hassle. Unless that chip contains an inactive lockout chip clone of sorts? I wonder about this as the RetroDuo Portable is able to play copies of Super Mario RPG w...

Re: A Retron 3 project, and a few queries...
I didn't see any oscillator crystal in the controllers, just a glop top and a resistor and capacitor, seems rather spartan inside. Must have an internal oscillator in the glop top, then. If that's the case, we can't fix anything. On a side note I hear that Hyperkin is planning a Retron4, with nicer...

Re: A Retron 3 project, and a few queries...
Ok, Typically I will not double post, however since there is so much new information to share on this project, I wanted to call attention to it. I got the replacement power switches in today, it took a while to get here because the seller lives in HK but I can say these are VERY high quality switch...

Re: Retron 3 amp
Ok then, do you have an idea when the circuit design will be ready? I would imagine adapting and modifying a circuit like this might be rather complex and time consuming, I also would guess that this fixes the reversed stereo channels as well. Do you have the solder points for the amp? I have a pro...

Re: Retron 3 CIC
I stumbled across your posts on sega-16 about the retron 3, I went ahead and performed the SNES composite brightness and genesis green fixes you mention. I'm also considering doing the genesis PSG/FM balance fix as well, was it 30k ohm resistors you used or was it 33k? I suggest you ignore the PSG/...

Re: A Retron 3 project, and a few queries...
Good work. Now, for the lockout chip, I've got a bit of information which will simplify the task of figuring out what goes where on the lockout chip. I had a look at the solder spot inside my FC16 Go Version 2's motherboard and found several floating pins, namely pins 5, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15. Pin 4...

Re: A Retron 3 project, and a few queries...
I am actually subscribed to both you (I had a feeling it was you at least, now I know for sure) and satoshimatrix on youtube, many of the videos you both have produced about these systems have had a direct impact as to which clones I decide to tinker with, If I see one that looks serviceable I will...

Re: A Retron 3 project, and a few queries...
I understand that, you certainly don't want it to look cheesy, but you can actually still get fairly elaborate in website design before you start getting really complex and hard to program, what I would do if it were me, is look into getting some nice HTML software and just start playing around, If...
