Re: SNES Nonvolatile SRAM board
Alright, got the boards, got one soldered up. It's puuurrrtty :) Still haven't been able to test it. I tried and it didn't work, but my socketed donor carts are giving me nothing but grief. I'll have to pull the sockets and solder it in direct and see if it works. It *does* stick up higher than the ...

Re: SNES Nonvolatile SRAM board
Got the boards in today. Haven't had a chance to solder one up yet, but I'll post back with results. The only thing I can see right off the bat might be an issue is the height of the board + chip being too high to close the cart properly, but if that ends up being an issue, I'll just have to find pi...

Re: SNES Nonvolatile SRAM board
Thanks for the tips. I actually knew I should have added a ground plane, just didn't think to do it. I've updated the board in case I have any future use for it (not really sure how many of these I'll need). I moved the vias off the pads as well.

SNES Nonvolatile SRAM board
After seeing the mods for nonvolatile Game Boy and N64 Controller Pak saves, I figured why not SNES? The SNES has plenty of good RPG's that could benefit from it. So I went with Ramtron Fe-RAM, same as before, and traced out this board. Thankfully, Nintendo was nice with their SRAM, unlike their mas...

Re: Dreamcast Solder Points
Your image link is broken, but if there are any traces coming off of that point, you should be able to scrape off the solder mask enough to reveal a new solder point.

FS: Nonvolatile 1M (4x) N64 Memory Cards
After reading this post http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=37099 , I wanted to make one for myself, but rather than creating an adapter to solder the TSOP chip onto, I'm thinking of just designing a PCB and building the whole card from scratch. The only thing is, I have to order PCB's in ...

Re: Want to build an SNES repro cart
It seems like all of the chips that I find >4Mbit are 2.7-3.6v, whereas the SNES cart provides 5v. Would, say this chip http://www.microchip.com/wwwproducts/Devices.aspx?dDocName=en549546 work, using a 3.3v regulator? I'm looking for an EEPROM that would fit the bill but so far, no luck (most of wh...

Re: Non-volatile gameboy saves
Sorry to bump an old topic, but I thought I'd drop in and mention something. I see that the one issue (besides RTC) with this mod is that the FM28V020 chip is designed for 3.3V, but it's getting ~5.5v, so you have to lift the Vcc pin. Well, I happened across this document on RAMTRON's site http://ww...

Re: Cart emulator progress thread
Marshall takes awhile to respond to emails, but he does eventually. In my case, I emailed him about a week before I ordered my 64Drive, and he responded about a week after I received it. Don't know what to tell you other than that.

Re: Questions about the N64 Jumper Pak
Ok, so now I'm looking at how to wire it all up on the mainboard and this is is what it's looking like. The white traces are apparently not connected in the jumper pak (I'm guessing they were used in the expansion pak, but I'm too lazy to pull mine out of my other '64 to check...) so I'm thinking I'...

Ah, thanks. I see the broken trace now and it makes a lot more sense. Thanks for the reading material, I'll look into it and if I have any more questions I'll come back and ask.

Re: Questions about the N64 Jumper Pak
What I'm confused about is that the Vtt island doesn't appear to be decoupled if you look at the front side, the traces continue straight up to the green-marked vias which connect to the ground plane on the back (the traces are kind of covered by the resistors I drew in on the front image). Also con...

Questions about the N64 Jumper Pak
I'm trying to trace out the jumper Pak's connections to attempt an on-board expansion pak transplant and removing the expansion slot entirely (mounting the resistors and caps on the board as well), but something just doesn't make sense to me when I'm looking at the jumper pak. There are 5 capacitors...

Re: NES Controller Project...
By plug-and-play, are you meaning those games that are entirely built into a controller and plug directly in to a TV and play or do you mean playing on a computer? If you mean the TV games, then this is no simple task, and .exe's will not run. A .exe file is a Windows executable and will only run on...
