Serious n00bish question: what exactly are the various caps on that board for anyway? Don't all the chips work on 5v?

Ps/2 dilemma
On my new computer's motherboard there is no Ps/2 port. I discovered this when I tried to plug in my beloved mechanical keyboard. Is there anyway that I can add one (e.g. expansion card or breakout cable) that does not make use of USB? I am aware that there are a plethora of usb adapters out there b...

Genny + 32x issues
I've never had any issues with my Genesis model 1. When I plugged in my 32x (with the rf shields) I found that all off the imagery (sprited backgrounds and things) that I imagine were produced by the genesis (and not the 32x) had taken on a dark purplish hue. I imagine that either the RGB in the gen...

Re: Project Hand held N64 - advance (HHN64-adv)
Sorry to enter a dead thread, but if you have a bachelors degree in electronics you should take a crack at emulating a system on an FPGA (suggestion: n64dd because those things are rather pricy)

Re: Reading N64 Memory
I'm not certain as to how this could be done. Try asking the people on nekochan or another SGI computer forum, they might know how to actively read RIMMs better than we do. As for the actual mod, you could probably get away with just tapping all the legs on the ram chips with some ribbon cable.

Re: Want to build an SNES repro cart
Starfox 2 uses a super fx2 chip (gsu-2 I think, should be the same as in doom). In the past overclocked super fx1 chips have been used. In terms of fan translations and larger RPGs you might have a ton of difficulty. The reason I say this is that star ocean is something like ~141Mbits and the cartri...

Anyone need tomee n64 controllers?
I've got 2 tomee n64 controllers (the ones with the metal sticks that have the pointless tact switch at the base). Both of them are the victims of static electricity (one has a stick that periodically moves upwards, the other will not read movement left or right). Near as I can tell, they are mechan...
