Re: Portable Desktop PC
Yea this thread is old, as is my quest to portable'ize my desktop... Thanks for the suggestions Willrandship. If it ends up meeting the criterions (sturdy, somewhat rain-proof, acceptable through security, quick deployment and upgradability etc) then sure it can be done any way you'd like. I just do...

Moddable LCDs database
Is there somewhere in this forum a list of recommended LCDs (maybe even of different sizes and aspect-ratios etc) to use for modding? Or is any LCD out there ok to mess with and they'll all end up skinny enough when stripped down to the core ? I'm looking for a recommended 22" LCD for a portable des...

Re: Portable Desktop PC
NOOOOoooo!!!.... Please guys, don't get all pessimistic and forget about it. I really need this mod badly and yes I think its totally worth it to bother coming up with solutions for detachable LCD, HW replacability, rain-proof'ness, durability, etc etc etc. As I mentioned, i'll have no choice but to...

Re: Portable Desktop PC
I'm off traveling again, back to NY this time on a stopover flight from Iowa and yes, you guessed it, i'll be bringing my (ugly) baby along for the ride :) wrapping each piece of HW separately so I can remove them one by one out of the case to pass 'em through security... what a pain Thanks to y'all...

Re: Portable Desktop PC
:( Nobody seems too excited about my 2-in-1 solution about the LCD and cooling; The LCD is permanently made part of the "cover" half of the case, with its necessary expandable cables already attached to the GPU and power connection, plus an unfoldable stand embedded inside. Now, upon deployment, I c...

Re: Portable Desktop PC
It looks to me, like cooling will be the hardest thing. do you mind having big vent holes all over? seems like airflow will be hard to achieve. as for the lcd, i cant really think of an easy way to have it clip in and out, without some pretty complex cnc'd parts. Flash of genious: If the LCD snap-o...

Re: Portable Desktop PC
Well, what are you looking to pay? Thanks for asking. Can you maybe give me a guesstimate of what would a modder take for this kind of project? I definitely have a couple of hundred $ for this to begin with. Shoot him an email I actually did so a little while ago. Some of the text from my first pos...

Re: Portable Desktop PC
Would that allow for quick unpacking of the screen/keyboard/mouse/headset onto a desk as in 3rd image and repacking into the case? In any case, what i'm wondering is if someone can take up this project and do it professionally, as in make it look slick like benheck's 360 laptop mods etc which end up...
