If your pth08000 is getting hot, that is a problem. that is a big problem. They Do Not Get Hot.
Maybe your 3.3v line is shorted out?

Yeah sure, the n64 doesn't really need much. Look at how RAM sinks are attached to video cards. Using ramsinks is also ok.

Well no one knows what the "average" portable weighs... so you should really just be calling for EVERYONE to weigh their portables and report back.
