Re: Replace N64 cartridges by another system
That's what happened to the Z64: a guy from dextrose hacked the BIOS and people started experimenting with flash memory. I pulled the trigger and ordered an SD/IDE adapter (those things were expensive at the time!) and got it to work fine. By "cloning" the Z64 I meant that it's probably made of fair...

Re: Replace Xbox DVD drive with SD card slot
1) I don't need two hard drives, I want removable media on the second IDE port
2) If CF works, then I don't see why an SD to IDE adapter will not. It has worked on much older systems.

Re: Replace N64 cartridges by another system
You had me at " As stupid as your comment... " Here's my fully equipped N64. 2GB limit per SD card since the BIOS requires a FAT drive, but beats the heck out of zip disks and more convenient than a hard drive. The entire romset is 10GB anyway (much smaller without clones). http://i234.photobucket.c...

Re: Replace Xbox DVD drive with SD card slot
Yes, I know those would be the steps
Has anyone tried this? Would it be powered correctly? Would an SD card behave like a bootable Xbox DVD if formatted as DVD video or Xbox game DVD?

Re: Replace Xbox DVD drive with SD card slot
My Xbox is fully modded already. I want to have both a hard drive and an SD reader.

Replace Xbox DVD drive with SD card slot
I would like to get rid of my Xbox DVD drive but want to have some sort of removable media capability in it. Is an IDE SD/SDHC reader a possibility?

Re: Replace N64 cartridges by another system
Why not just clone the Z64 (and make it smaller)?

Re: Xbox Slim Worklog
There's no need to lock/unlock the drive if you're going to flash the TSOP anyway. You also don't have to connect the new drive to the computer. Once the TSOP is flashed, you just burn the hdd formatting utility to a CD and boot the xbox with it.

Re: Xbox Slim Worklog
I recommend the X2 5035 firmware. It only needs to be flashed once and can be configured by modifying a settings file on your hard drive. If you don't want to deal with softmods prior to flashing, you can also get a used copy of MechAssault and a hacked save file to quickly boot into EvoX and flash ...

Re: Xbox Slim Worklog
There really is no reason not to flash your TSOP. It's fun as hell and allows you to stop worring about softmods forever. I use my Xbox everyday for XBMC and some older games (heh, Street Fighter III), so I'll be watching your project.
