Okie dokie. I wasn't ignoring your advice tibia, I was simply asking if the damaged headphone jack could also be the problem.

I popped some batteries in the system and it still doesnt work. Me and my buddy were looking at it and we found something weird. For some reason the case has been warped a little and the headphone jack is bent. (Thus would explain the reason why the sound is very faint). Is there a chance this could...

I just tried the official power adapter that Sega used for the nomad, genesis and gamegear.
The gamegear turns on, red light is on, I hear faint music of Sonic 2, backlight turns on, but the screen has no image.
I'll try batteries and another game.
